London-based charity opened 12 temporary early learning centres in Gaza
DEPRIVATION: A baby sits among rubble in the devastated central Gaza Strip

A BRITISH-BASED charity has opened 12 temporary early learning centres in Gaza, warning that nearly a quarter of its population are facing early childhood development challenges.

Theirworld announced the initiative today citing a closing window to prevent further harm to an “entire generation” of children surviving through the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

About 175,000 children in the besieged territory do not have necessary nutrition, care, safety and early learning opportunities in the first five years of their lives.

UN estimates cited by the charity say the genocide set back human development 77 years.

Their world chairwoman Sarah Brown said: “Early years support is one of the highest-impact investments we can make to help children through crisis.

“The window for intervention is closing, and failure to act now risks the future of an entire generation.”

Centres are to support about 700 children aged three to five, offering pre-school education, psychosocial support and structured play time during critical development years.
