Welsh government to ditch road building projects for climate reasons
General view of road maintenance and traffic direction sign

DEPUTY climate change minister Lee Waters today accepted an independent roads review policy which scraps major road building projects in Wales.

In 2021, the Welsh government announced the suspension of new road-building projects as part of its transport strategy to see whether the money could be better spent.

“The publication of this review, along with the transport delivery plan and our new roads policy, represents a major step forward,” Mr Waters told the Senedd.
