FALSE CLAIMS: UCU Cardiff University branch has set the record straight on claims made by university management in evidence to the Senedd education scrutiny committee.

Chair of Council Pat Younge told the committee they heard in the media that the union had reported it to the Health and Safety Executive.

The UCU explained to its branch members that they repeatedly told the university they would report it to the executive for stress levels suffered by members.

WELSH BIBLE: A rare copy of the first translation of the Bible into Welsh will be available for public viewing at St David’s Cathedral, Pembrokeshire.

Bishop William Morgan translated the Bible as part of an effort to bring the scriptures to people in languages they understood.

It was printed in 1588 and has been kept in Westminster Abbey’s library collection. Other copies of the Welsh language Bible have disintegrated through constant use.

BAD SMELL: A Senedd committee will hold an inquiry into a landfill site amid concerns about an “unbearable” stench blighting villagers’ lives for the past two decades.

More than 1,100 people signed a petition about the landfill site at the former Hafod quarry in Johnstown, Wrexham.

Steve Gittins, who submitted the petition which calls for the permit to be revoked, said monitoring showed levels of odour as much as four times the recognised detection limit.

HOUSING NIGHTMARE: Shelter Cymru has slammed a decision to scrap the housing waiting list in Ceredigion, forcing more than 2,000 people to have to reapply for social housing.

Ceredigion council said it needed to change its system due to increased demand on the housing register and homelessness services, meaning everyone needs to reapply.

Shelter Cymru said it was concerned some people could slip through the net, adding that the stakes for people in need of social homes were high.
