HUNDREDS of workers at Brake Brothers’ Lanarkshire base have overwhelmingly backed a pay deal worth up to £2,434 secured by their union, Unite.
About 400 warehouse workers, hygiene and distribution drivers at the Newhouse hub will see their pay rise by between 5.1 and 9.8 per cent from July when they all receive an 88p-an-hour uplift, as well as one-off payments ranging between £458 and £515.
The company, which holds several public-sector contracts supplying food to Scottish prisons, schools and care homes, is working alongside the union on plans to create at least 50 more jobs at the site with a 50,000 square foot expansion in 2026.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “It builds on the successes already made at the company and it clearly shows that Unite continues to deliver better jobs, pay and conditions for our members.”
Unite industrial officer Pat McIlvogue said: “It’s an exciting time to be part of Brake Brothers with the expansion of the Newhouse facility and we look forward to delivering even more success for our members.”
