STUC debates AI threat to jobs and use of tech to spy on workers

USE of technology to spy on workers and of AI to undermine jobs were discussed at the Scottish TUC today.

Peter McKevitt of the United Road Transport Union said new driver-facing cameras were being used to monitor HGV drivers 24-7, “even when drivers are at rest.”

At a recent disciplinary he defended a driver who was accused of being too tired to drive because bosses had counted the number of times he had yawned, he pointed out.
