SPEEDWAY: Championship new-boys the Workington Comets have followed up their signing of 18-year-old Australian Tate Zischke with the capture of Finnish racer Antti Vuolas.
The Finn hit the headlines when he beat former World Champions Jason Doyle and Nikki Pedersen at last season’s World Cup event in Wroclaw.
Based at their newly developed Northside track, the Comets will be captained by ex-Leicester Lion Craig Cook.

CYCLING: Mathieu van der Poel has been named Dutch sportsman of the year after pushing Formula 1’s Max Verstappen into second place.
