SPEEDWAY: Chris Harris top-scored with 12+1 points as regular season champions Sheffield Tigers beat Belle Vue 50-40 in Thursday’s second leg of their Premiership play-off semi final but narrowly lost out 91-89 on aggregate.

Belle Vue will face Leicester in the two-legged final starting at home in Manchester on Monday, with the decider three days later. Leicester finished second in the Premiership, one place above Belle Vue.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Unbeaten South Africa take their six-match unbeaten run into Saturday evening’s game with Argentina in Santiago del Estero needing just two losing bonus points to seal the Rugby Championship with a game to go.

The tournament’s early kick off sees bottom of the table Australia face New Zealand in Sydney.

CYCLING: The road racing world championships start in Zurich on Sunday with both the men’s and women’s individual time trials. MEN’S CRICKET: England face Australia in the second game of their five match one-day series at Headingley tomorrow after suffering a heavy seven wicket defeat in Thursday’s opener.

Travis Head smashed an unbeaten 154 from 129 balls as the Aussies chased down England’s 315 all out with six overs to spare.

Opener Ben Duckett was England’s top scorer with 92 while part-time bowler Marcus Labuschagne took 3-39 for the Aussies.
