THE second International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left Parties and Movements opened in the Cuban capital Havana today.
The meeting of delegates from 32 countries at the Havana Convention palace will debate the importance of developing a common agenda against fascism and neo-fascism.
Event co-ordinator Enrique Ubieta — director of the Communist Party of Cuba’s theoretical journal Socialist Magazine — said the three-day conference will address “the systemic crisis that affects the world, the rise of fascism, the progressive death of the old world and the emergence of a new world order.”
Mr Ubieta said the conference would agree a joint action plan on its final day.
At the first conference, held in Havana in February 2023, participants looked at how the legacy of the legendary leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro, could guide progressive forces to meet today’s geopolitical challenges.
The conference is co-sponsored by the Cuban branch of the Network in Defence of Humanity and Cuban newspapers Granma and Juventud Rebelde.
