STAFF at an international student college, partnered with the University of Manchester, have voted to strike over low pay, the University and College Union (UCU) announced today.
An overwhelming 97 per cent voted to strike after being offered a “paltry” 2 per cent pay award for 2025 by INTO Manchester.
The union said that the private college has refused to make an improved offer despite charging international students up to £38,000 per year, making over £20 million last year and paying out £15m in dividends.
UCU general secretary Jo Grady criticised managers for offering a real-terms pay cut.
“Students and their families, who pay very high fees to study at INTO, expect their teachers to be on a decent wage, and 2 per cent just doesn’t cut it,” she said.
“Management now needs to look at this huge strike vote and come back to the table with a serious offer to avoid any disruption.”
The college was contacted for comment.
