PRO-Palestine activists targeted Instro Precision today, halting production at a subsidiary of Israel’s largest weapons company, Elbit Systems.

Palestine Action activists attached themselves to vehicles to block entries to the premises in Sandwich, Kent. 

According to the activists, the site is normally used for the manufacture of target acquisition, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment for the Israeli military.

Since 2008, Instro Precision has applied for and been granted over 50 weapons export licences to Israel.

The company provides 85 per cent of Israeli forces’ drones and land-based military equipment. 

A Palestine Action spokesperson said: “It has been clear that there is no route through government to ending the supply of British weapons to Israel's war machine.

“Forty thousand Palestinians have been massacred in Israel’s genocide, yet more are now starving, wounded and displaced. 

“Our government is complicit in all of that — co-ordinated direct action to immobilise sites of Israeli weapons production is the only possible response.”

Defence-sector unions have criticised the targeting of members’ places of work.
