A DIGITAL version of BFAWU general secretary Sarah Woolley has been launched to help workers organise into unions.

Organise Now’s first-of-its-kind language bot project has been backed by the bakers’ union, as well as Aslef, National Union of Students (NUS), Strike Map and Notes From Below.

Ms Woolley said: “We are really excited about the possibility of this type of initiative in supporting workers organising unions at work.

“Last year our movement lost 200,000 members, most of them women in the private sector. Through Organise Now, we are committed to reversing that trend.” 

Aslef leader Mick Whelan added: “The development of this type of technology to support workers organising unions is exactly what our movement should be doing.”

The AI offers users basic information to organise around common work issues, signposting to Organise Now for more dedicated peer support.

It will be launched on Organise Now and NUS’s websites and was built by General Federation of Trade Unions partner Bombe.
