Ministers urged to back SNP miscarriage Bill

MINISTERS have been urged to back a private member’s Bill seeking to introduce paid leave for those affected by miscarriage.

SNP MP Angela Crawley said that her proposals would allow parents who suffer a miscarriage before 24 weeks of pregnancy to grieve by granting them three days of statutory paid leave.

An estimated one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage, but paid bereavement leave is only offered following stillbirth after 24 weeks.
