FAMILIES across England face a harsh £3,500 increase in the cost of everyday essentials due to Tory economic mismanagement, a Labour analysis has revealed.

Since December 2019, housing, fuel and power costs have risen by £1,480, according to the party’s analysis of Office for National Statistics (ONS) data.

Labour said that while families would typically spend about £82 per week on such essentials in 2020/21, this increased to around £111 per week in December 2022.
