A FORMER police constable appeared in court today accused of having a sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman he met while leading an investigation.

Daniel Jackson, 38, was charged with misconduct in public office following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

He wore a navy suit and only spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.

He was granted unconditional bail by district judge Nick Watson to enter a plea at the city’s crown court on February 24.

The IOPC began its investigation in June 2022 following a mandatory referral from Leicestershire Police.

Jackson, of Stenson Fields, Derby, who resigned from the force three months later, is alleged to have “pursued personal contact and engaged in a sexual relationship” with a woman who was in a “vulnerable situation,” the IOPC said.

The charge relates to allegations between May 17 and June 10 2022.
