Farage is ‘just a right-wing conman,’ TUC leader says
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage speaks during the party's annual conference at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, September 5, 2025

NIGEL FARAGE and Richard Tice are “just right-wing conmen, lining their own pockets,” TUC general secretary Paul Nowak said today.

He attacked the Reform UK leaders after urging Labour ministers to show workers “you’re on their side” by imposing windfall taxes on banking profits, gambling websites and wealth.

“There is a world of difference between what Nigel says and what Nigel does,” Mr Nowak told TUC Congress delegates in Brighton.

Pointing out all that Reform MPs voted against outlawing fire and rehire, zero-hours contracts and other pro-worker measures in the Employment Rights Bill, he challenged Mr Farage to ignore his wealthy backers and vote for the Bill, stop supporting US President Donald Trump’s destructive tariffs, and tell the public why he favours US-style private healthcare.

“It's time to come clean about whose side you are really on, because here’s the truth,” he added. “You’re not representing working people; you’re selling them out.”
