BRENTFORD captain Christian Norgaard has had the red card he was shown during Saturday’s goalless draw with Everton overturned following an appeal.

The 30-year-old was dismissed in the 41st minute by referee Chris Kavanagh who was summoned to the VAR monitor to review a challenge on goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Norgaard was deemed to have committed serious foul play when, in attempting to reach a header across goal from Ethan Pinnock, his studs connected with Pickford’s knee.

Bees boss Thomas Frank was booked for protesting over the decision and confirmed after the game that the club intended to challenge the decision.

“It was not a red card,” said Frank in his post-match comments.

“Christian’s eyes are clearly on the ball. There is no force, no intention to hurt Pickford. If the law says that is a red then the law has changed.”

It means Norgaard, who has one goal in 10 Premier League appearances this season, will be available for the club’s next three matches starting with the visit of Leicester to the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday.
