Tories launch ‘full-frontal attack’ on Scottish government after blocking Gender Recognition Reform Bill

THE Tories have been accused of launching a “full-frontal attack” on the Scottish government after blocking its Gender Recognition Reform (Scotland) Bill.

The unprecedented order was laid down in Westminster this afternoon by Scotland Secretary Alister Jack, prompting fury from Scottish ministers and trans rights activists. 

It is the first time the British government has sought to block legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament in the 25 years since devolution.
