Peers to vote on law that will allow forceful installation of hydrogen boilers in homes without consent

PEERS are set to vote on a law on Tuesday that would give gas distribution networks (GDNs) the power to force people on to hydrogen boilers without their consent.

The Energy Bill would grant the networks the same powers of entry used to force tens of thousands of more expensive prepayment meters on vulnerable families, with Tory ministers being accused of “not learning lessons.”

The legislation could also see consumers paying more on their energy bills from 2025 to fund hydrogen production, but the government claims discussions in this area are “still ongoing.”
