MUSEUM of London workers will be striking for half a day tomorrow against a real-terms pay cut.

Workers at the museum’s sites in Barbican and Docklands are walking out after management imposed a 1.5 per cent pay rise on the workers  — falling behind the cost of living.

The museum says that a performance-related bonus scheme will give workers the opportunity to keep their pay linked with inflation.

But workers say they should not have to qualify for a bonus to keep up with the cost of living.

The rise is the workers’ sixth annual real-terms pay cut in a row and has meant that they earn 6 per cent less than they did in 2013.

Prospect negotiations officer Sharon Brown said: “Museum of London’s refusal to even give our members an inflationary rise means that yet again basic wages will not be keeping up with the cost of living.

“Management have left us with no option but to take industrial action.”
