Kirklees District Council to shed 750 jobs to balance budget

A YORKSHIRE council is set to shed 750 jobs, saying that it needs to balance its budget after years of Tory cuts.

The jobs are to go at Kirklees District Council, which is based on the town of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.

The council branch of public-sector union Unison said that its members will ballot on industrial action if compulsory redundancies are imposed.
