Crunch time for consumers after splurge at Christmas
TODAY is the day that most British people run out of money.
New research has found that January 24 is the day that most people begin to run seriously low on disposable monthly income.
Most people receive their last pay cheque of the year prior to Christmas Day, leaving nearly a six-week gap until the next time they get paid.
The research, which was commissioned by responsible finance group U, found that 9 per cent of people already run out of money by January 10, and nearly six out of 10 people already worry about money before today.
Nearly half (46 per cent) of all British citizens had to borrow money over the festive period, with over a 11 per cent still paying off their Christmas debt this December, the research finds.
