ACTIVISTS piled several life-size body-bags outside oil and gas giant Equinor’s London offices today over Europe’s largest gas provider profiteering from the Iran war.
Fossil Free London staged the protest ahead of the co-owner of the Rosebank oil field announcing its first quarter profits tomorrow.
Ministers are also considering a Scottish court ruling that original approval to drill the largest untapped oil field in the North Sea was unlawful.
Fossil Free London director Robin Wells said: “Equinor’s oily dollar bills are signed in blood.
“Everyone knows the gory truth about the oil industry: whether it’s from the ravages of war, from freak floods that drown people in their homes, or from supercharged fires that trap and burn the defenceless in a road-melting nightmare, as the bodies pile high the oil profits swell.
“More oil means blood money. More oil means war and climate impacts. More oil means disaster.”
An Equinor spokesman said: “We value freedom of speech and respect NGOs’ right to voice their opinion. Our focus is to be a reliable energy supplier in turbulent times.”
