Simmonds Speaks: Fifa are a joke which nobody finds funny
Football’s world governing body needs to be disbanded, says KADEEM SIMMONDS

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Or so they say. But how corrupt is Fifa if they can’t even fix their own tournament voting system?

Sepp Blatter’s revelation that the greedy powerhouses at the world football governing body decided to give Russia and the United States the 2018 and 2022 World Cups respectively before a single vote was cast shows just how rotten Fifa is.

That the 2022 tournament was given to Qatar is both sad and hilariously amusing. That Michel Platini allegedly went against the wishes of Blatter and swapped his vote is in a sick and twisted way funny.
