Chamberlain: We ‘didn’t do enough’
Liverpool stay unbeaten as they draw 1-1 with Bristol City

Bristol City 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain was left frustrated on Saturday after drawing 1-1 with Bristol City as the Reds maintained their lead at the top in the Spring Series.

The Reds were in the driving seat for much of the match and thought they had secured all three points when substitute Katie Zelem scored with 10 minutes remaining.

However, minutes later Lily Agg pulled Bristol City level and despite Liverpool being reduced to 10 players with minutes to go, they held on to their unbeaten run and moved five points clear of Arsenal.

Chamberlain admitted that Liverpool didn’t deserve to win despite dominating proceedings for much of the game.

She told the WSL website: “It was very, very frustrating. We dominated the game and although they had a lot of possession they didn’t cause us any problems until the last five minutes.

“We didn’t deserve to win. We had been playing really well in recent games but this time we weren’t at the races for whatever reason.

“But for us that’s not good enough and we need to come back better.

“We knew it would be difficult and Bristol would defend well, but we said if we kept going a goal would come — and it did. But we didn’t do enough to get the win.” 7

Bristol City goalscorer Lily Agg said: “We were delighted to pick up a point because we had been playing well in recent games but not getting anything from them.

“I wasn’t sure at first if it me who had scored because the ball came in and a few of us jumped for it and it seemed to take a couple of ricochets.

“But I’m definitely claiming it because I got my head to it! It was an even game and I thought a draw was a worthy result.

“We knew it would be open game because we love to attack and so do they so in a way I’m surprised there weren’t more goals.
