HSBC local banks to be occupied

THE “world’s local bank” will be greeted with some tough love from communities today as families turn HSBC branches into “crime scenes” in protest against the bank’s continued tax-dodging.

At noon protesters in London, Nottingham, Taunton and Shrewsbury will go into their local branches dressed in forensic suits to the sound of Pink Panther.

UK Uncut called on supporters to dress as cops and robbers for a day of “creative, family friendly civil disobedience.”

HSBC has allegedly been complicit with 7,000 tax-dodging Britons, of which some have been Conservative Party donors.
It has been estimated that some of HSBC Swiss branch account holders were responsible for over £5 million in Tory donations.

UK Uncut’s spokesman Sam Morgan said: “David Cameron’s millionaire government have unleashed devastating and brutal austerity on the British public.

“At the same time they’ve let big banks like HSBC who caused the financial crash pocket billions by dodging tax and helping others do the same.

He added: “The cuts to our vital public services are a political choice, not an economic necessity.

“This is daylight robbery on the greatest scale. We’d like to extend an invitation to all outraged members of the public to join us in showing HSBC for the criminals they are this Saturday.”

Chancellor George Osborne addressed public complaints over the HSBC tax-dodging scandal last month by saying: “It’s not my job to catch tax-dodgers.”
