Get behind the Lionesses
Support England tonight in their semi-final against the Netherlands

England v Netherlands (Channel 4 from 7pm)

The Star is calling on it’s readers to support England tonight in their Euro 2017 semi-final against the Netherlands tonight.

Two years ago Mark Sampson’s side were cruelly knocked out at the same stage of the World Cup due to a last-minute own goal from Laura Bassett.

This time, the Lionesses go into the final four not only the in-form team but the highest rank team left in the tournament, meaning that there is pressure on the side.

However, after seeing off France, a team that had ended two of their last three tournaments, there is real belief that this is England’s year.

Losing goalkeeper Karen Bardsley to a broken leg is rotten luck but her replacement Siobhan Chamberlain is a top-quality shot-stopper and is more than capable of keeping out the hosts tonight.

In Jodie Taylor, they have the top-scorer, five goals in four games, and arguably the most clinical striker not only for Arsenal but England.

Suspended Jill Scott will be a huge loss but whoever Sampson opts to start tonight will have the required quality to get the job done.

So as you settle down this evening with friends and family, make sure you are supporting England as they aim to reach Sunday’s final.

The Morning Star stands in solidarity with the England team tonight.
