Isabella Acevedo smuggled out of Britain
Mark Harper's former cleaner put on a flight to Colombia

A TORY minister’s former cleaner was secretly smuggled out of Britain yesterday after activists stopped heartless officials from deporting her earlier this week.

Isabella Acevedo — who worked at Minister for Disabled People Mark Harper’s house for seven years — was reportedly dragged out of her room in the early hours and put on a flight to Colombia.

Supporter Trenton Oldfield said that late on Wednesday he “got a call from Isabella’s roommate in Yarl’s Wood saying she had been taken, still in her night clothes.”

Ms Acevedo was arrested at her daughter’s wedding a fortnight ago after former immigration minister Mr Harper was outed for hiring paperless staff.

She was then placed at Yarl’s Wood Immigration Removal Centre where her first deportation attempt was cancelled last week.

According to Ms Acevedo’s roommate two guards came into the room a few minutes after midnight.

“We still don’t know exactly where she is and nobody has confirmed anything to her lawyer or her family,” Mr Oldfield explained.

The Star reported earlier this week how Ms Acevedo was given a second deportation notice on Saturday warning her removal could happen any time between 23.59 on July 30 and just before midnight of August 15.

However, she was supposed to receive a 48 hour notice prior to her flight.

Mr Oldfield said that an announcement closer to the date was the “minimum” to be expected from “a country which calls itself civilised.”

Together with Ms Acevedo’s family and legal team, her supporters are now organising to bring her back to Britain at the next possible opportunity.

“We will be doing everything to get her back in the country and we will be pressing the Home Office,” said Mr Oldfield.

“It might take 20 years but we will pursue them.”

They also vouched to legally challenge Home Secretary Theresa May after some suspected human rights breaches in Ms Acevedo’s deportation procedures.

When approached for comment, the Home Office declined to comment on individual cases.
