ACTIVISTS in Aberdeen are set to take to the streets in solidarity with Palestinians this weekend.
The Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) Aberdeen actions are due to begin at 9.30am tomorrow with a picket outside the Barclays bank on the city’s Union Street.
The campaign hopes to draw Christmas shoppers’ attention to the bank’s investments in BAE and Elbit systems — both suppliers of weapons to the Israeli regime.
Later at 2pm in the city’s Union Terrace Gardens, SPSC plan to call on all north-east citizens to join them in a demonstration of solidarity with the people of Palestine.
SPSC’s Kate Ramsden said: “As Israel continues its bombardment of civilians, and the death toll continues to rise, we must make clear that what is happening in Gaza is genocide, and that people of conscience around the world will not stand by.
“The event will hear from speakers from all faiths and none, united by our shared humanity, our call for a ceasefire to prevent further bloodshed, and our determination that the apartheid government of Israel will be held to account for its war crimes.”
