Doomsday remains at 90 seconds to midnight as world approaches ‘point of no return’
THE world is fast approaching the “point of no return,” anti-war campaigners have warned as the Doomsday Clock for this year is set at 90 seconds to midnight.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, which calculates the clock based on global threats such as wars and the continued expansion of nuclear arms arsenals, said the countdown reflected “the continued state of unprecedented danger the world faces.”
It had set the clock to the same time in 2023 and warned that international governments have not done enough to address the threats.
