Everton 2-2 Tottenham

SEAN DYCHE praised Everton’s analysts and staff after his team scored from two set-piece situations to rescue a point against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
This set-piece prowess cancelled out two excellent goals from Everton’s former player, Richarlison, who netted a first-half brace to put Spurs ahead at half time.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin turned one into the net after a Dwight McNeil corner caused all sorts of problems for Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. It went down as a Jack Harrison goal as it skimmed off his thigh.
The second half looked like it would end goalless and result in a costly defeat for Everton, who are currently in the relegation zone.
But a free kick from James Garner in added time caused more problems for the Spurs defence, and the tall frame of Jarrad Branthwaite was on hand to head the ball home at the far post.
“We want to be competitive on set pieces all over the pitch,” said Everton boss Sean Dyche.
“I must give the staff and the analysis team credit, as they spend a lot of time to make the best chances we can from set pieces.
“It’s just about the way we work. I think we are a threat, that’s for sure.”
Despite only rescuing a point with a last-gasp goal, Everton were the better side on the day.
They created more chances than Spurs despite having less possession, and constantly troubled Vicario from those corners.
“I certainly felt we deserved at least an equaliser, if not to take all three,” added Dyche.
“But I thought we did the same down at their place, and we got nothing, so that’s sometimes football.”
