SUPPORT for Labour within the Muslim community has halved, a new poll revealed today, as the party continues to fail to condemn Israel’s crimes against Gaza.

Survation and the Labour Muslim Network found that support from Muslims had dropped to 43 per cent, down from 86 per cent in the 2019 general election.

The findings come as leader Keir Starmer continues to fail to denounce Israel’s war crimes in Gaza. In November, he instructed MPs not to vote for a ceasefire in Parliament and has warned elected party representatives not to attend Palestine solidarity protests.

Of those surveyed, 38 per cent said that their views of the party had become more unfavourable over the last 12 months.

A statement issued by the Labour Muslim Network said that the party’s response to Gaza has been “unacceptable and deeply offensive to Muslims across Britain.

“Muslim voters have been watching and are now sending a clear message: they will not support any political party that does not fervently oppose the crimes committed against the people of Gaza,” it said.

“The Labour leadership must change paths now or risk losing the support of the Muslim community for a generation.”
