MEN’S ICE HOCKEY:

Elite League bottom club Nottingham Panthers notched up their fourth consecutive home win after coming from behind to end second-placed Cardiff’s unbeaten 12-match run with a 5-4 victory on Wednesday night. 

In the other midweek action Darien Craighead scored the only goal of the shoot-out as Glasgow improved their play-off chances with a 3-2 win over Guildford.

Fife take on Manchester in tonight’s game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL:

Leicester Riders will move joint top of the Women’s British Basketball League with a win over Newcastle this evening in a repeat of last week’s game, where the Riders eased to a 77-57 success.

Current table-toppers London, the only team with a one hundred percent record, are not in action until Saturday when they travel to basement club Cardiff Met, who have yet to win a game this season.

MEN’S CRICKET:

New Zealand face Australia in the second leg of their three-match Twenty20 series at Eden Park, Auckland, tomorrow after losing Wednesday’s first game on the very last ball.

Chasing a massive target of 216 Aussie captain Mitchell Marsh clubbed a rapid unbeaten 72 not out before Tim David smashed 31 from just 10 balls to snatch victory with a four off the last delivery.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION:

The third round of the Under 20s Six Nations competition kicks off this evening with table-topping England in Edinburgh to face a Scotland team that has yet to pick up a win, and second-placed Ireland looking to maintain their unbeaten start when they host Wales in Cork.

Current world champions France, who lost to Ireland in the opening round of matches, are up against Italy in Beziers.

MEN’S TENNIS:

Andy Murray will drop out of the world’s top 60 after losing to Jakub Mensik in the second round at the Qatar Open.

In the longest match of the tournament’s history, clocking in at three hours and 23 minutes, Mensik, ranked 116th, prevailed 7-6 (8-6) 6-7 (3-7) 7-6 (7-4) to reach his first ATP Tour quarter-final where he will take on top seed Andrey Rublev.
