Communist women share experiences at Ealing international women's day event

COMMUNIST women from around the world came together in Ealing on Saturday to share experiences of the struggle against capitalism, patriarchy and war.

The two halves of the evening event began with Nawal, a comrade of the Palestinian People’s Party, and Amna, from the Sudanese Communist Party, each detailing the way women are made to suffer the most in the bloody wars afflicting both countries.

In Sudan, where military leaders who had already derailed a mass democratic revolution are now locked in a brutal war against the Rapid Support Forces militias, both sides are accused of war crimes including the rape and abuse of women, Amna (pictured) stressed.

Women’s rights are under attack across multiple countries, attendees heard, from Iran’s crackdown on the Woman, Life, Freedom movement to the rise of misogynistic far-right politics in Europe and India.

Speakers from communist organisations in Bangladesh, Britain, Cyprus, Greece, Guyana, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Spain and Sudan were followed by dancing and singing from the Bengali Workers Association, music, poetry and food.
