More than two thirds of workers in Scotland now have flexible working

MORE than two-thirds of workers in Scotland now have flexible working, according to a new report.

New research by Flexibility Works — a social business partly funded by the Scottish government to promote the practice — shows that it has grown rapidly since the Covid pandemic, from 46 per cent to 67 per cent of workers today.

Flexibility Works co-founder Nikki Slowey said their Flex for Life report showed a “strong consensus amongst employers and workers that flexible working is good for business and for people.”

It found that 71 per cent of employers see flexible working as good for business and 77 per cent report a happier work-life balance.

SNP Fair Work Minister Gillian Martin said: “Flexible working is here to stay.

“In the absence of powers over employment law, the Scottish government is determined to use the levers at our disposal to promote fair work practices — of which flexible working is key — across Scotland’s labour market.”
