SNP vows to force Westminster vote on recognising Palestine's statehood

RISHI SUNAK and Sir Keir Starmer may be forced into a binding vote over recognising Palestine after the general election, SNP leader John Swinney warned today.

The Scottish First Minister has written to the Prime Minister and Labour leader urging them to do “the right thing” and pledge to recognise Palestine’s statehood “immediately.”

He said:  “I am calling on the UK to follow the lead of Ireland, Norway and Spain by immediately recognising Palestine as a state — and if Rishi Sunak will not do it now, Keir Starmer must commit to doing so on his first day in Downing Street.

The government has been asked for comment.
