Stagecoach bus drivers call off strikes after securing more than 17% rise in pay deal

BUS drivers in Swindon are celebrating after winning a pay deal of more than 17 per cent, Unite announced today.

The Stagecoach drivers had voted for industrial action and were ready to strike when the dispute was resolved.

The workers voted for a two-year deal which will see pay increase by more than 11 per cent in the first year and by a total of 6 per cent in the second.

It also includes the introduction of an overtime rate and improvements to sick pay.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said the union is “totally committed to improving workers’ jobs, pay and conditions,” adding: “When workers stand together in Unite they win, as this excellent deal proves.”

Unite regional officer Amy Roberts said: “Well done to our reps and members.

“Without their hard work and solidarity, this deal would not have been achieved.

“This result is another reminder to those who want better wages and working conditions that Unite is the union for them.”
