Biden attempts to woo unions following debate blunder

UNITED STATES President Joe Biden attempted to woo the country’s biggest unions today as he faces pressure from his own party to abandon his re-election campaign.

The 81-year-old Democrat was set to meet with the executive council of US’s largest federation of trade unions, the AFL-CIO which represents 12.5 million union members.

It comes after Mr Biden’s weak debate performance against presidential candidate Donald Trump on June 27, which raised fears about his ability to compete in November’s election.
