LIVERPOOL defender Joe Gomez hopes Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League win at West Ham can signal the start of their recovery.
The defending champions arrived at the London Stadium on a nightmare run of nine defeats from 12 games in all competitions.
But a first league goal from £125 million striker Alexander Isak and a late Cody Gakpo strike secured a much-needed three points for the Reds.
“It’s been tough,” Gomez told the club website after making his first start of the season.
“Everyone obviously takes it differently. For the boys who have just come, it probably feels different to how I’ve [previously] seen it.
“Obviously there is a massive expectation at this club and you’ve got to feel the weight of the shirt and do your best for the badge and we know that.
“We’ve been just as disappointed as the fans and the main thing is that we’re all in it together and we can feel that.
“We can feel their support, the boys feel it and it’s a balance of trying to not let it overwhelm us and take over us and hopefully this can take us in the right direction.”
