Your Party to debate democracy plans
Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana take part in a discussion on Your Party, their new political party, at The World Transformed conference, at Niamos Radical Arts Centre in Hulme, Manchester, October 10, 2025

YOUR PARTY delegates are to vote on radical plans for member democracy at the party’s founding conference in Liverpool this weekend.

Delegates selected randomly from among the new socialist party’s 50,000 members will choose between a “collective member leadership” and a more traditional “single leader” model, the party announced today.

Together with members voting remotely, they will also choose the new party’s name — Your Party being a temporary signboard for the organisation, launched by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana in the summer.

Options for the name will be revealed later this week.

Proposals for the new party’s constitution include mandatory reselection for all MPs, open selection for all public office positions and a right of recall for members.

Elections to leadership posts will follow early in the new year. All the party’s four MPs — two having recently resigned — are expected to address the conference, including both Mr Corbyn and Ms Sultana who, however, are holding separate rallies on the Friday evening.

A party spokesman said the conference would be a “festival of democracy.”
