ZACK POLANSKI has suggested Zarah Sultana should defect from Your Party to the Greens, noting that the Coventry South MP is “broadly aligned” with his party’s values.
The Greens have risen sharply in the polls under Mr Polanski’s leadership, while Your Party, recently founded by Ms Sultana and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, has struggled with internal disputes.
Green Party membership has now passed 170,000, with about 100,000 people joining since Mr Polanski became leader in early September.
Mr Polanski said the Greens would welcome “anyone who aligns with its values.”
“I believe Zarah largely does align with my values,” he said. “I’ve appeared on lots of platforms with her. Ultimately though, this has got to be a decision for those MPs about where their future lies.”
Mr Polanski rejected claims that he had held “secret conversations” with MPs but said the Greens regularly speak with politicians from across Parliament.
His comments came after former Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle defected to the Greens on Thursday.
