MEN’S BASKETBALL: Just seven days after the International Basketball Federation officially recognised the revamped Super League competition and lifted the ban on the men’s national team from this month’s World Cup qualifiers, the British Basketball Federation (BBF) has announced plans to go into liquidation.
Super League Basketball took over management of Britain’s elite leagues from the BBF after the collapse of the 777 Partners private investment company in 2024.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: A Toby Lees own goal deep into stoppage time sealed FC United of Manchester’s 3-2 FA Trophy second-round win over Darlington.
Among the other results, three-time winners Scarborough lost out 1-0 at Leek Town, while Telford kept up their fourth title hopes alive with a 2-1 success at Chesham.
Last year’s runners-up Spennymoor went down 3-2 at home to Fylde and South Shields thumped Dunston 6-2.
MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Jarod Evans had been on the pitch for less than five minutes when he kicked a stoppage-time penalty that gave Wales a narrow 24-23 victory over Japan in Cardiff on Saturday evening.
The win, Wales’s first at home since August 2023, ensures they will be among the second group of seeds at next month’s World Cup 2027 draw.
Japan lost all four of their autumn internationals and are yet to win in Wales.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Leicester’s on-loan midfielder Jordan Jones scored the only goal of the game as Wales squeezed past Liechtenstein 1-0 in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier.
Liechtenstein had lost all six of their previous qualifying matches, conceding 24 goals and not scoring.
If the Welsh beat North Macedonia in tomorrow night’s final group game they will secure a home play-off semi-final, a loss or draw guarantees an away fixture.
