DAVID LAMMY slammed Reform UK MP Sarah Pochin for remarks that belonged in the “dark ages” in the Commons today.
Standing in for Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, absent at the Cop summit in Brazil, the deputy premier told MPs that “the disgraceful, racist language that we heard from a Reform MP last week belongs to the dark ages.”
He was referring to remarks by Ms Pochin claiming she was driven “mad” by television advertisements “full of black people, full of Asian people.”
Reform boss Nigel Farage appeared to be nodding along at Mr Lammy’s attack.
He had himself conceded that Ms Pochin’s remarks were “ugly.”
The exchange was prompted by Chatham and Aylesford Labour MP Tristan Osborne raising the very mixed record of the new Reform-led county council in Kent, which has featured purges, a sweary leader and a failure to deliver on promised spending cuts.
“Reform said that Kent County Council would be the best advert for what a Reform government would look like,” Mr Lammy said.
“They’re delivering on the chaos that they promised.”
