PALESTINE: Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters and activists in the West Bank this week, beating them with clubs, sending at least one woman to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident occurred Sunday in Turmus Ayya and was captured on video obtained by the Associated Press.

Rights groups and the UN have warned that settler violence is rising as harvest season begins, putting Palestinian farmers at growing risk.

US: The Illinois sheriff’s deputy who killed Sonya Massey in her Springfield home last year ignored his training when he shot the black woman who had called 911 for help, a prosecutor said today.

Sean Grayson, faces three counts of first-degree murder for the July 6 2024 incident, which arose over a pot of hot water Ms Massey removed from her stove.

Bodycam footage will show that Ms Massey, who suffered from mental-ill health, posed no threat, the prosecutor said.

SRI LANKA: An unidentified gunman shot dead opposition politician Lasantha Wickramasekara at his office today, marking the first killing in a recent spate of attacks on politicians.

Mr Wickramasekara, head of the council of Weligama, about 93.2 miles south of Colombo, died after being admitted to hospital.

Police said the shooter fled the scene and that the motive remains under investigation.

SERBIA: A fire and apparent shooting at a camp for supporters of President Aleksandar Vucic in central Belgrade today injured one person, with Mr Vucic calling it a “terrorist attack.”

The fire broke out at tents near the parliament, set up in March as a human shield during anti-government protests.

Footage showed gunfire-like popping sounds, with police officers drawing weapons and instructing people to take cover.
