Tshikeva wants to put his picture up alongside British boxing greats

JEAMIE TSHIKEVA hopes to be pictured alongside some of boxing’s all-time greats following his British heavyweight title fight with Frazer Clarke.

The bout is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 25 at Becketwell Live in Derby.

Tottenham’s Tshikeva — known as TKV — has eight wins from 10 fights as a professional but lost his British title challenge earlier this year when David Adeleye stopped him in the sixth round following a controversial refereeing decision.

Images of past titleholders including Henry Cooper, Lennox Lewis, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, were displayed on a large screen as TKV and Clarke made their way to the stage for Wednesday’s press conference in London.

“It’s big, it’s prime-time, baby. It’s a special moment. I want to be a part of the history. I want my picture to be up there,” said 31-year-old TKV, according to BBC Sport.

“I expect a war, I expect us to go back and forth. I expect it to be that type of fight.”

Olympic bronze medallist Clarke, from Burton upon Trent, has won nine pro bouts, with one draw and one defeat.

The 34-year-old came close to the British crown in March 2024 when he drew with Fabio Wardley before being knocked out in the first round of their rematch.

“This isn’t the typical heavyweight contest: there will be no chairs thrown, no tables thrown, there doesn’t need to be slang between us,” said Clarke, who won Commonwealth Games gold in 2018 and Olympic bronze at Tokyo 2020.

“This is two men, dedicated to the craft, who love the sport and are willing to compete to be the best in Britain as a heavyweight.”

The contest will be shown free-to-air on the BBC.
