SIX pro-Palestine activists were arrested after smashing their way into a key Elbit Systems manufacturing hub in Bristol this morning and damaging weaponry held there.
Members of Palestine Action used a prison van to break through the outer perimeter of the site and the building’s roller shutters.
Once six were inside, they began damaging what they found, including machinery and Israeli quadcopter drones, said the group.
“Israel’s biggest weapons producer, Elbit Systems, uses Gaza as a laboratory to develop its weaponry,” Palestine Action said in a statement.
“Activists directly intervened in this genocidal process by taking aim at Elbit’s research, development and manufacturing hub.
“As a party to the Genocide Convention, Britain has a responsibility to prevent the occurrence of genocide.
“When our government fails to abide by their legal and moral obligations, it’s the responsibility of ordinary people to take direct action.”
The break-in was the first time that Palestine Action has targeted Elbit’s Horizon facility.
The company was contacted for comment.
