‘Tory MPs will trash devo vow’
Rightwingers promise 'bloodbath' for Cameron if he takes proposals to Parliament

ALEX SALMOND last night pounced on a Tory rebellion against a cross-party powers promise to claim Scots must vote Yes to independence.

The First Minister said the Labour, Tory and Lib Dem devolution vow had collapsed just 24 hours after it was launched on the front page of the Daily Record newspaper.

Tory MPs said they will try to stop the transfer of tax and economic powers — including the final say over Scotland’s NHS budget — to Edinburgh. One predicted “a bloodbath” for Mr Cameron if he brought the proposals before Parliament.

And, at an eve-of-poll rally at Perth Concert Hall, Mr Salmond said their opposition made “the case for Yes more clearly than ever.”

He said: “It is the clearest demonstration yet of why Scotland’s future must be in Scotland’s hands.

“Tomorrow with a Yes vote we can deliver for Scotland real power — the power to choose hope over fear, opportunity over despair.”

Mr Salmond told campaigners the result of the “greatest campaign in Scottish history” was now in their hands.

Yes Scotland chairman Dennis Canavan had earlier led Yes supporters in a final rally in Glasgow, where the referendum outcome could be decided.

The former Labour MP called on voters to say yes to “a fairer Scotland and a Scotland that will take its proud place in the international community to help to build a better world.”

Mr Salmond had hoped the Scottish Sun would support a Yes vote today — but he failed to convince owner Rupert Murdoch in last-ditch talks.
