Extremists shut al-Aqsa mosque to worshippers

THREE HUNDRED Israelis broke into occupied East Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque yesterday, an act bound to outrage Palestinians.

Palestine’s Wafa news agency said the “extremist settlers” performed religious rites for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot — in breach of the Jordanian-administered holy site’s rules — while Israeli police stopped Muslims from entering.

Despite the provocation there were no reports of clashes.
