Thursday's Tube strikes called off

A TUBE strike tomorrow has been called off after senior management bowed to pressure from workers.

Tube drivers on the District, Hammersmith and City and Circle lines were scheduled to strike against “heavy-handed” management practices.

The Aslef members, who are based at the Barking depot of the London Underground, voted 85 per cent in favour of action.

However, their union’s district organiser Finn Brennan said that the announcement of strike action has forced managers to act.

Mr Brennan said: “The solidarity of our members and the determination of our reps means that we have now successfully resolved the issues in dispute and ensured that agreements are adhered to.

“But once again, London Underground management failed to act to resolve industrial issues quickly at local level forcing us to threaten action to get them around the table.

“This is not the approach to industrial relations that our city needs.”
