Hackney councillor charged with child sexual assault days after quitting council

A HACKNEY Labour councillor has resigned after being accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Former deputy speaker Lee Laudat-Scott, 48, appeared at Thames magistrates’ court on Thursday charged with “intentionally touching” a boy aged under 13 and sexually assaulting a man in Islington earlier this month.

He resigned as a councillor on Saturday, three days after a complaint about his conduct was made to the authority, the council said.
