Airbus staff to strike over pay
The Airbus building at the Farnborough International Airshow in Hampshire, July 22, 2024

WORKERS in maintenance and cleaning based at two Airbus manufacturing sites are to strike over pay.

Members of union Unite at Broughton in Wales and Filton, near Bristol, will walk out on September 6, 7, 9 and 10.

The workers are employed by contractor CBRE Managed Service Ltd.

Unite said that in a display of “corporate greed” CBRE had made profits of £36 million while paying its workers the minimum wage and proposing a “derisory” annual increase.

General secretary Sharon Graham said: “CBRE makes huge profits but thinks it is OK to pay its workers poverty wages.

“This is pure corporate greed. CBRE can more than afford to put forward a fair pay offer.

“CBRE’s workforce at Airbus’ Broughton and Filton sites have their union’s absolute support in taking strike action.”

Unite said the industrial action would escalate if the dispute is not resolved.

Regional officer Jono Davies said an “acceptable offer” could mean avoiding industrial action.
